Olubiyi Fadeyi Returns to PDP Over APC Ticket Dispute

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi resigned from the All Progressives Congress and rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party to run for the Osun Central Senate seat in 2027.

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing the Osun Central Senatorial District, resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on July 23, 2026, and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Fadeyi had previously defected from the PDP to the APC in July 2025.

Fadeyi cited a lack of transparency and fairness regarding the APC's 2027 senatorial ticket process as the reason for his departure. He alleged that although President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had agreed he would receive the sole ticket via consensus, the APC leadership in Osun State instead selected Adekunle Adegoke. While Fadeyi stated his resignation was not an act of opposition toward President Tinubu, he claimed trust within the party had eroded.

Fadeyi has now positioned himself as the PDP candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District for the 2027 Senate election. He is operating under the faction led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
