Corruption Concerns Hit Trump Approval as Midterms Approach
Miles Taylor claims new polling data showing widespread concern over government corruption represents a death sentence for the MAGA movement ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Former Deputy Chief of Staff in Homeland Security Miles Taylor argues that recent polling data indicates a death sentence for the MAGA movement as a governing force. This assessment follows a Fox News poll showing that 88 percent of registered voters rank government corruption as a higher priority than inflation, gas prices, and healthcare. The same survey recorded President Donald Trump's approval rating at 36 percent, the lowest in the network's history.
Taylor notes that corruption has historically never outranked economic concerns in American elections, even after the Watergate scandal. He attributes this shift to the dominance of corruption stories over the last 18 months, including allegations that Trump profited from the presidency. Former Justice Department official Liz Oyer specifically characterized a White House ballroom project as a deposit box for bribes.
Supporting data from Gallup shows 89 percent of Americans believe corruption is widespread, placing the United States last among 38 developed countries. Taylor contends that these perceptions have rendered the Republican party's position radioactive with only three weeks remaining before the midterm elections.
