Karnataka Congress Demands CBI Probe Into Ram Mandir Trust
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee demanded a CBI investigation into alleged embezzlement at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and called for top government resignations.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) passed several critical resolutions during a general body meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The party demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate alleged embezzlement within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The KPCC alleges that the Trust failed to maintain proper accounts, leading to the misappropriation of thousands of crores in cash, gold, silver, and diamonds by trustees and staff.
Based on these allegations, the KPCC demanded the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on moral grounds. Beyond the trust controversy, the committee urged the Central government to provide a Rs 10,000 crore special package to address crop failure, unemployment, and drought-induced water scarcity within Karnataka.
During the same meeting, the party formally welcomed the appointments of D.K. Shivakumar as Chief Minister, B.K. Hariprasad as KPCC President, and Siddaramaiah to the Congress Working Committee.
