David Adeleke, the Afrobeats musician known as Davido, called on United States President Donald Trump and the international community to monitor the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15. In a post on X, Adeleke urged international stakeholders and security authorities to prevent violence and intimidation, stating, "We do not want bloodshed."
Adeleke expressed concerns that the democratic process could be disrupted, emphasizing that residents should be able to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear. He called for "peace, transparency, and a free and fair election" to ensure the integrity of the vote.
The appeal occurs during a period of heightened political tension in the region. The election will determine if incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, the singer's uncle, will secure another term in office.
