Ilhan Omar Claims Working Class Status Amid Federal Probe

Representative Ilhan Omar claims she lives paycheck to paycheck while facing a federal investigation into her father's immigration paperwork and scrutiny over financial disclosures.

U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar stated in an interview with MS NOW that she lives "paycheck to paycheck" and describes her financial status as "working class." These comments follow a controversy regarding her financial disclosures. Omar initially listed assets linked to her husband, Timothy Mynett, between $6 million and $30 million, including interests in Rose Lake Capital and eStCru, before amending the filing to report combined assets between $18,004 and $95,000 due to an accounting error.

Separately, Omar is the subject of a federal investigation. On October 12, agents from Homeland Security Investigations conducted a court-authorized search of her Washington home. The United States Department of Justice indicated the probe focuses on immigration paperwork completed by Omar's late father.

Omar has denied any wrongdoing and accused President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security of weaponizing law enforcement for partisan purposes. Her campaign has since used the raid to solicit donations from supporters. Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has sought financial records from companies linked to Mynett.
