US Embassy Warns Citizens in Saudi Arabia of Aerial Attacks

The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia urged American citizens to remain vigilant against potential drone and missile attacks amid escalated fighting in Yemen.

The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a security alert on October 5, 2026, warning American citizens of the potential for drone or missile attacks. The mission advised citizens to avoid large gatherings, stay away from glass windows and heavy police presence, and follow national alerts from the Saudi Civil Defense.

While the embassy reported no change to its security or operational posture, it provided specific safety guidelines for aerial attacks and encouraged citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveller Enrolment Program. The embassy confirmed that "Regular and emergency consular services are available for U.S. citizens."

This warning follows a period of escalated fighting in Yemen after a 2022 truce collapsed in July. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States intends to uphold its bilateral security commitments with Saudi Arabia in response to the renewed confrontations involving Houthi forces.
