Trump's Plan for Qatari Jet Library Display Remains Uncertain

The future of a Boeing jet donated by the Government of Qatar remains undecided despite assertions by Donald Trump that the aircraft would be displayed at his future presidential library in Miami. Trump had previously stated that the plane would go directly to the library after he left office and would not be used personally, citing the precedent set by Ronald Reagan.

However, Eric Trump and a White House official have since indicated that the library display is not the current plan and no final decision has been reached. Because the aircraft was a gift to the Department of Defense, it is owned by the U.S. government and would need to be designated as excess property by the Pentagon before any transfer to a library could occur.

United States Air Force officials suggest the retrofitted jet, which cost hundreds of millions of dollars to prepare, could continue serving as a third Air Force One until Boeing delivers new aircraft in 2028. Alternatively, the aircraft may be utilized by other federal officials.
