Israel Warns Trump of Iranian Assassination Plot in Turkey

Israel shared intelligence with the United States detailing an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Donald Trump. Iranian officials reportedly identified the president's visit to Ankara for a NATO meeting as a primary opportunity to carry out the attack.

In response to the threat, security personnel altered the president's travel arrangements. He departed Ankara using an older Air Force One model, which officials deemed to have superior defensive capabilities compared to his newer jet.

U.S. government officials suggest the plot may be retaliation for the 2020 killing of General Qasem Soleimani and the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. However, some U.S. officials suspect Israel may be using the intelligence to prompt more aggressive military action against Iran. President Trump has publicly stated he is a top target and threatened to destroy the Islamic Republic of Iran with missiles.
