ICE Equips Maine Officers With Body Cameras Ahead of Schedule

Senator Susan Collins announced that all Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Maine were equipped with body-worn cameras and trained in their use as of August 14, 2026. The deployment occurred more than two weeks before the national deadline of late August established by Acting ICE Director David Venturella.

The initiative follows congressional Democratic demands for greater transparency and accountability. These calls for oversight followed the fatal shootings of U.S. citizens in Minnesota and the shooting of Johan Guerrero, an incident in which the involved agent was not wearing a camera.
