Donald Trump attended the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, where he conducted a media conference and coordinated with allied leaders. During the proceedings, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni participated in a North Atlantic Council round table meeting to discuss regional security and alliance cooperation.
Concurrent diplomatic activity occurred in Mexico City, where President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed Swiss President Guy Parmelin at the National Palace for a state visit. These leadership gatherings coincided with a period of mourning in the Middle East as followers carried the coffin of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf, Iraq.
Other international operations included the delivery of U.S. humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in La Guaira, Venezuela. In Europe, the San Fermín festival continued in Pamplona, Spain, with the second running of the bulls.
