Donald Trump Insults Reuters Reporter After Canceling Campaign Rallies
President Donald Trump berated a Reuters reporter's physical appearance at Joint Base Andrews after being questioned about his health and canceled campaign rallies.
President Donald Trump insulted the physical appearance of Reuters correspondent Jacob Bogage during a tarmac exchange at Joint Base Andrews on Thursday. The confrontation began when Bogage questioned whether the president's health or travel fatigue led him to cancel in-person campaign rallies in Salina, Kansas, and Dubuque, Iowa, ahead of the midterm elections.
Trump denied any health issues, stating he feels "perfect," and responded by calling Bogage "disgusting," "way out of shape," and telling him he "look[s] like hell." He further described Reuters as a "terrible" outlet. While the Republican National Committee confirmed the cancellations, Trump's campaign funding group, MAGA Inc., announced a series of over 20 tele-rallies across at least 19 states to replace the in-person events, including a virtual rally to support Senator Roger Marshall. Trump remains scheduled to visit Florida and Iowa.
This incident follows a pattern of recent media confrontations. On October 20, Trump questioned the mental health of Independent correspondent Andrew Feinberg during an Oval Office news conference. On October 22, he called CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins a "dummy" and a "low-IQ person" during a dispute over sanctions waivers and the release of American teacher Stephen Hubbard from Russia. Trump's Rapid Response team later praised the exchange with Bogage, claiming the president had destroyed the journalist.
