DHS Launches Probe into Naturalized Citizens Who Voted

The Department of Homeland Security launched a nationwide initiative to investigate and prosecute naturalized U.S. citizens who registered to vote or cast ballots before obtaining citizenship. The effort is managed by the Homeland Security Investigations’ Identity and Benefit Fraud Unit and stems from a March executive order signed by President Donald Trump.

Official reports indicate the probe aims to identify activities that undermine election integrity, with the potential to pursue the denaturalization of citizens. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller is reportedly the driving force behind the operation. Under the current framework, investigators may be required to provide justifications in cases where charges are not filed.

In a parallel effort, the United States Department of Justice is suing state election officials to obtain private voter data for similar enforcement goals. However, courts have thus far ruled against the administration's requests for this data.
