Delhi Traders Urge INDIA Bloc to Postpone November 1 Rally
The Federation of Sadar Bazar Trades Association and Kirana Committee Delhi requested the INDIA bloc postpone a November 1 rally to avoid Diwali business disruptions.
The Federation of Sadar Bazar Trades Association and the Kirana Committee Delhi have formally requested that the INDIA bloc postpone its planned November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan until after November 10. The political coalition organized the event to protest Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Traders argue that the rally would trigger traffic restrictions and business disruptions during the critical Diwali trading window. The federation estimates that the period from Dhanteras to Diwali generates approximately ₹25,000 crore in turnover, warning that any interference would harm the livelihoods of business owners and workers.
Formal appeals were sent to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. The associations urged these leaders to reschedule the protest in the public interest to protect the commercial activity of the city's markets.
