Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across India on July 17 and 18, 2026, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Speaking via video conference from Jalandhar Cantonment in Punjab, Modi dedicated facilities designed to provide safe, accessible, and world-class passenger amenities, including upgraded drinking water and toilet facilities.

In Gujarat, four stations—Pratapnagar, Godhra, Porbandar, and Bhaktinagar—were opened at a cost of Rs 109 crore, bringing the state's total redeveloped Amrit Bharat stations to 22. In Madhya Pradesh, the Ashoknagar station was inaugurated at a cost of Rs 37 crore, which Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia noted will benefit approximately 1.5 lakh passengers per month. Other regional projects included the Rs 12.18 crore Coonoor station in Tamil Nadu, which features murals of the Nilgiris forests, and three stations in Andhra Pradesh—Rayanapadu, Mangalagiri, and Cumbum—costing approximately Rs 50 crore.

In Assam, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya unveiled a plaque for the 117-year-old Majbat Railway Station, which now utilizes solar energy and water conservation systems. In Chhattisgarh, upgrades were completed at Champa, Balod, and Sarona stations. State leaders, including Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, characterized the investments as a "railway revolution" intended to strengthen regional trade, tourism, and economic growth.
