Trump Considers Large-Scale Combat Operations Against Iran
President Donald Trump is weighing large-scale combat operations against Iran as the Pentagon prepares to deploy 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East.
President Donald Trump is considering a return to large-scale combat operations against Iran, with potential strikes resuming after the early November midterm elections. This possibility follows a closed-door meeting of senior national security officials at Camp David on Friday, presided over by Vice President JD Vance.
Attendees at the meeting included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine. The discussions focused on the war with Iran and the ongoing Saudi-Houthi conflict in Yemen, amid a period of stalled diplomatic talks.
In preparation for potential escalation, the Pentagon is organizing the deployment of up to 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East by late November, which would include a third aircraft carrier strike group. Simultaneously, Saudi Arabia is urging the United States to participate in airstrikes against Houthi rebels ahead of a planned offensive. While Trump has previously been reluctant to join these strikes, officials indicate he may reverse his position.
