Nyesom Wike Unveils Rainbow Coalition to Support Tinubu

Minister Nyesom Wike launched the Rainbow Coalition in Port Harcourt, urging PDP members nationwide to support President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike led the unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition's candidates for the 2027 general election during a gathering at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt. The coalition, which includes members from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, and Action Alliance, aims to unite politicians across party lines to promote peace in Rivers State and mobilize national support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the event, Wike announced that he and the PDP National Working Committee agreed that party members across all states must support President Tinubu. Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara attended the ceremony and pledged his support for both the president and the coalition's candidates. The coalition named APC members Ogundu Kingsley Chinda for Governor and Major Jack for Deputy Governor as its preferred candidates for the state.

The gathering also featured political confrontations. Wike criticized former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. Senator Magnus Abe called on Amaechi to resign as Atiku's reported vice-presidential candidate, arguing that Amaechi must respect the principle of power rotation and the agreement that the presidency belongs to the South.
