Russian Missile Strikes Kill Dozens in Kremenchuk and Pryluky

Russian cruise missiles struck residential areas in Kremenchuk and Pryluky, killing at least 22 people and injuring nearly 90 others.

The Military of Russia launched cruise missile strikes on October 7 targeting residential and business areas in the cities of Kremenchuk and Pryluky. In Pryluky, a single missile hit a five-story building and the Center for Children's and Youth Creativity. Reports on the death toll in Pryluky differ, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reporting 19 deaths and Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Viacheslav Chaus stating 20 people were killed. Both officials confirmed that five of the victims were children, while 55 others were injured, including seven children.

In Kremenchuk, located in the Poltava region, a separate attack killed two people and injured 34 others, including two children. Vitaliy Diakhivnych, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that the strike damaged five multi-story residential buildings and 35 private houses, with six houses completely destroyed. Initial casualty estimates for Kremenchuk were lower, citing only nine wounded and two dead before the figures were updated.

Emergency services continue to clear rubble and search for missing persons in the affected areas. Viacheslav Chaus described the Pryluky strike as a brutal attack targeting people who were still asleep.
