Donald Trump Rallies for Bruce Blakeman in Syracuse

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, to support Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally on Friday, October 9, at the Oncenter in Syracuse, New York, to support Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman. The event marked Trump's first visit to the city in over a decade and served as part of a broader national tour to maintain Republican majorities in the House and Senate. The rally featured supporters traveling from across New York and as far as Kentucky.

Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County Executive and Republican nominee for governor, appeared alongside the president to mobilize upstate voters. Blakeman has framed New York's affordability issues as failures of the current administration in Albany and emphasized his direct relationship with the president as a strategic asset for the state.

The visit caused significant local disruption. The Syracuse City School District canceled after-school activities and dismissed students from STEAM High School and ITC at noon due to the venue's proximity. Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley implemented extensive security measures, warning of road closures and traffic disruptions during the president's movement through the city.

Concurrent Republican efforts included a rally in Lima, Ohio, headlined by Vice President JD Vance to encourage voter turnout for high-profile state contests. In Syracuse, the event faced opposition from progressive groups, including Indivisible Onondaga County and the CNY Solidarity Coalition, who planned protests to coincide with the rally.
