Reuters Ipsos Poll Shows Democrats Lead on Economic Trust
Registered U.S. voters now prefer the Democratic Party's economic approach over the Republican Party's for the first time in nearly a decade.
A nationwide poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos indicates a shift in voter perception, with 37% of registered U.S. voters favoring the Democratic Party's economic approach compared to 36% for the Republican Party. This marks the first time in nearly ten years that Republicans have lost their lead in economic trust. The decline is linked to soaring gasoline prices, which rose more than 25% following U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran in February and the subsequent war.
Donald Trump has seen his approval rating drop to 35% amid these economic headwinds. On a generic congressional ballot, 42% of registered voters currently support a Democrat, while 37% support a Republican, a trend that may influence the November 3 midterm elections.
President Trump dismissed the poll results via Truth Social, asserting that his actual polling numbers are the best they have ever been.
