India and Israel Formalize Special Strategic Partnership for Peace

India and Israel have expanded their diplomatic ties into a Special Strategic Partnership focusing on co-development in defense, AI, and cybersecurity.

The Government of India and the Cabinet of Israel have transitioned their bilateral relationship into a Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation and Prosperity. Formalized during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Israel in February 2026, the alliance is moving from simple co-production to the co-development of advanced technologies, combining Israeli innovation with Indian manufacturing capacity.

This evolution follows decades of security cooperation, including Israeli military support during India's conflicts with Pakistan and intelligence assistance following terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Pathankot, and Pulwama. The current strategy emphasizes a pivot toward Asia, targeting cooperation in semiconductors, space exploration, and artificial intelligence. Economic integration is central to this shift, highlighted by the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the acquisition of Haifa Port.

To further counter authoritarian influence, India and Israel have joined the United States in a strategic triad focusing on global resilience. Additionally, the partnership now includes critical labor integration, with approximately 20,000 to 25,000 Indian workers filling essential vacancies in Israel since October 2023.
