Trump Announces Massive Resource Exploration in Greenland
Donald Trump announced that the United States will begin massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration in Greenland following a new security agreement.
Donald Trump announced Wednesday via Truth Social that massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration is preparing to begin in Greenland. He claimed that experts believe the amount of easily available oil in the region exceeds that of almost any other land in the world.
The announcement follows a security agreement signed more than four weeks ago between the United States, Greenland, and Denmark. While the deal primarily focuses on military purposes and missile early-warning systems, it includes specific provisions for minerals cooperation and resource extraction.
Under the agreement, the United States receives broad access to Greenland's airspace and territory. This allows for the expansion of the Pituffik Space Base and the potential establishment of additional bases at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig. The pact also prohibits non-NATO countries from establishing bases on the island without the consent of the participating parties.
