Accord Party Endorses Governor Adeleke Despite Internal Betrayal Claims

The Accord Party has formally endorsed Ademola Adeleke for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, praising his record on infrastructure and worker welfare. This endorsement follows public criticism from Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the party's presidential candidate, who characterized Adeleke's endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the action of a "disloyal party man."

Olawepo-Hashim suggested the Adeleke family may be facing external pressures and stated that while he views the governor's actions as a betrayal, he will not engage in anti-party activities or pursue political revenge. He noted that the upcoming poll serves as a critical indicator of how the Independent National Electoral Commission and security forces will operate during the 2027 general elections.

Governor Adeleke expressed confidence in his re-election bid during a session with civil servants and pensioners in Osogbo. He urged voters to ignore intimidation from the APC and cautioned that while he distrusts the police, the National Peace Committee is engaging security leadership to ensure stability. The Accord Party and Olawepo-Hashim both called on the federal government and electoral bodies to maintain a level playing field and remain impartial throughout the voting process.
