Iran Accuses NATO of Complicity in US-Israeli Strikes
Iran accused NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte of admitting European complicity in US-led military strikes after Rutte defended the attacks as necessary responses to ceasefire violations.
The Government of Iran accused NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte of admitting to Europe's willful complicity in a US-Israeli military campaign against Tehran. The accusations followed remarks by Rutte, who defended US military attacks on Iran as absolutely necessary, asserting that the United States must react forcefully when Iran violates a ceasefire.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that European nations providing logistical support and military infrastructure share responsibility for what Iran characterizes as an unlawful war of aggression. This diplomatic clash stems from Rutte's disclosure that 4,000 to 5,000 US military aircraft departed from European bases during the first six weeks of the conflict in March.
Tehran maintains that the US-led campaign violated international law and was carried out without justification. While Rutte continues to frame the kinetic actions as a crucial deterrent to keep the Iranian regime in check, the Iranian government contends that those providing territories and bases cannot evade responsibility for the consequences of the aggression.
