Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Hosts U.S. Congressional and Business Delegations
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with U.S. lawmakers and corporate executives in Islamabad to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and diplomatic ties.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a United States Congressional delegation and a group of American corporate executives in Islamabad on July 28, 2026. The meetings focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across several key sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, mining, and energy.
During discussions with Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, Sharif and the delegation agreed to increase the frequency of parliamentary and congressional exchanges to foster mutual understanding. Sharif also commended President Donald Trump for a decisive intervention in May 2025 that facilitated a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
To encourage further economic engagement, Sharif held a reception for U.S. business leaders from the technology, manufacturing, and energy sectors. He highlighted the Pakistani American diaspora as a strategic bridge for investment and diplomacy between the two nations.
