US Navy Enforces Blockade Against Iran in Strait of Hormuz

The United States Central Command announced on August 10 that US naval forces have redirected 55 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two others to enforce a blockade against Iran. Over 20 US warships, including the USS Ross and the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, are currently deployed in the Middle East to support these missions. Despite the blockade, the military has permitted more than 30 ships carrying humanitarian aid to pass.

President Donald Trump characterized the current US approach as "low-key," stating that the US is not seeking a new military offensive. He noted that the US is only "semi-negotiating" with Iran while monitoring the country's economic instability and inflation.

Vice President JD Vance stated that Washington is working to establish a safe passage route for commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This effort aims to maintain global shipping stability while the US continues to apply pressure on Iran.
