Goldman Sachs Predicts Democratic Gains in U.S. Midterms

Goldman Sachs analysts report that high gas prices are significantly influencing the trajectory of the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. In the US Election Monitor: October 8 Update, the firm's Washington Politics team identifies a strong trend favoring Democratic candidates.

As of September 30, Democrats led the generic ballot by 8.5 points. Prediction markets have assigned the Democratic Party a greater than 90% probability of winning the House of Representatives and a greater than 60% probability of winning the Senate.
