Allied Peoples Movement Urges President Tinubu to Step Down

The Allied Peoples Movement accused President Bola Tinubu of abdicating his official duties to a cabal consisting of family members, principal aides, and unelected individuals. In a statement released Friday, the party claimed this leadership vacuum has created a rudderless administration unable to manage Nigeria's economy, international diplomacy, and insecurity.

National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf criticized the president's absence from the United Nations General Assembly and his lack of direct engagement with victims of kidnapping and terrorism. The party cited a 63% poverty rate, a 33.3% unemployment rate, and a national debt of N159.28 trillion as evidence of systemic policy failure.

As a result, the party urged Tinubu to abandon any plans for a second term. The Allied Peoples Movement instead proposed that the president support Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as their presidential candidate for the 2027 election to reset the country.
