King Mohammed VI of Morocco has named the Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway, a 1,055-kilometer strategic infrastructure project, the President Donald J. Trump Highway. The route is the longest in Africa, connecting Tiznit to Dakhla via Laayoune along the Atlantic coast, including parts of the Moroccan-controlled enclave of Western Sahara. Donald Trump announced the naming on Truth Social on July 26 and 27, 2026, describing the gesture as a "Great Honor" and expressing his intent to travel the full length of the highway in the future. The naming recognizes the U.S. President's decision during his first term to recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara as part of the Abraham Accords, a position his administration reaffirmed upon his return to office in 2025.
