Ali Ndume Urges Opposition to Focus on Policy Over Tinubu Credentials

Senator Ali Ndume, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former Senate Leader, called on opposition parties to shift their campaign focus from President Bola Tinubu's academic credentials to his actual performance and policy alternatives. The call follows renewed scrutiny of the President's EC9 form, which lacks specific primary and secondary school qualifications.

Ndume argued that the President satisfies the constitutional requirements under Section 131(d) of the 1999 Constitution, which mandates education up to the school certificate level or its equivalent. He noted that the legal validity of Tinubu's eligibility was already resolved through litigation following the 2023 election.

Characterizing the debate over certificates as a distraction, Ndume challenged opposition presidential candidates and their spokespersons to present concrete alternative economic and security policies to the Nigerian electorate. He urged the opposition to elevate the political discourse beyond mundane disputes to explain what they could do better than the current administration.
