Rahul Gandhi Alleges Corruption Over E20 Ethanol Fuel
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused the Indian government of corruption and vehicle damage linked to E20 ethanol-blended petrol.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticized the Indian government's E20 ethanol-blended petrol, claiming the fuel is destroying vehicles and stealing from citizens. In a video posted to X, Gandhi characterized the fuel rollout as a significant issue and alleged that widespread corruption is present within the system.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri defended the fuel distribution network, stating it has remained resilient despite global market shocks. Puri noted that oil marketing companies conducted intensive testing, collecting approximately 2,000 daily samples from petrol stations nationwide.
Puri reported that only four contamination cases were identified across India's 107,000 retail outlets, which serve six to seven crore customers daily.
