British High Commissioner Praises Bola Tinubu's Economic Reforms

Outgoing British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery commended the economic reforms led by President Bola Tinubu during a farewell visit to the Revenue House in Abuja on Tuesday. Montgomery stated that while devaluation and inflation caused short-term pain for citizens, the reforms were fundamental to restoring economic vitality and securing Nigeria's long-term stability.

During the visit, Montgomery specifically praised the fiscal management and tax reform efforts of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Ministry of Finance, and the Central Bank of Nigeria. He noted that he continues to brief the British Prime Minister on these developments and suggested that Nigeria should aim to increase its growth rate from four to seven percent.

Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, thanked the envoy for the technical assistance and strategic partnership provided by the United Kingdom, highlighting the specific cooperation between the Federal Inland Revenue Service and His Majesty's Revenue and Customs.
