Donald Trump Urges Congress to Pass Digital Asset Act
President Donald Trump met with tech executives and regulators to promote U.S. leadership in AI and cryptocurrency and urged passage of the CLARITY Act.
Donald Trump hosted technology executives and financial regulators at the White House on Wednesday to discuss maintaining United States leadership in artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency. He asserted that the U.S. is leading in every aspect of AI and is way ahead of China, which he identified as the primary competitor.
To support the growth of AI data centers and the national power grid, the administration is working to accelerate approvals for company-built electricity-generating facilities. Trump also urged Congress to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025, known as the CLARITY Act, ahead of a scheduled Senate vote on September 15.
The summit occurred just before the first meeting of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Innovation Advisory Committee. Trump indicated that AI will likely be a key topic of discussion during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States on September 24.
