Atiku Abubakar Vows to Challenge Tinubu in 2027 Election

Atiku Abubakar condemned President Bola Tinubu's leadership as a disaster and pledged to run for president in 2027 to address Nigeria's cost-of-living crisis.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, issued a sharp condemnation of President Bola Tinubu, characterizing the current administration as a disaster. Atiku claimed Tinubu's leadership has pushed over 79 million Nigerians into extreme poverty and created a crushing cost-of-living crisis.

The conflict intensified after Tinubu questioned Atiku's investments in education. Atiku defended the founding of the American University of Nigeria, noting the foundation was laid in 1993. He countered by highlighting that during that same period, a court in the United States ordered the forfeiture of funds held in Tinubu's name.

Looking toward the 2027 election, Atiku pledged to implement an Affordable Life campaign to prioritize social welfare. He proposed restoring a transparent, production-based fuel subsidy tied to local refining to reduce energy costs for citizens.
