Senate President Akpabio Urges Northern Youth to Support Tinubu

Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Northern Nigerian youth to mobilize for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election and announced a pending shift toward state policing.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio called on stakeholders and youth in Northern Nigeria to provide overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. Speaking in Abuja during an award ceremony hosted by the Arewa Revival Project, Akpabio urged northern youths to intensify grassroots mobilization and ignore social media propaganda, alleging that critics attacking the president and his supporters are being paid.

Akpabio defended the administration's tax reforms and economic policies, claiming the president has successfully transitioned Nigeria away from a mono-economy dependent on crude oil. He further asserted that members of the National Assembly have already endorsed Tinubu for a second term.

Addressing national security, Akpabio announced that a decentralized state police system could be implemented within a month. He noted that approximately 30 state Houses of Assembly have endorsed the constitutional amendments required to establish the system. During the event, Akpabio committed to supporting youth empowerment, education, and economic inclusion in the North as a means to tackle insecurity and promote peace.
