Azerbaijan and Armenia Hold Technical Talks on TRIPP Power Lines
Azerbaijan and Armenia representatives met in Goris to discuss electricity transmission lines as part of the TRIPP connectivity initiative.
Representatives from Azerbaijan and Armenia met in Goris, Armenia, on October 8, 2026, to conduct technical talks regarding the installation of electricity transmission lines. The meeting is a component of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), an initiative aimed at establishing energy, transport, and communications links between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenian territory.
Azerbaijan and Armenia focused their discussions on the technical placement of power lines and interagency coordination. The TRIPP project stems from a Joint Declaration signed in August 2025 in Washington by President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and President Donald Trump.
While the technical consultations progressed, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers did not announce specific agreements concerning transmission capacity, financing, a construction timetable, or the final route. Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan stated that discussions regarding the energy system have begun with both Azerbaijan and Turkey.
