Ademola Adeleke Withdraws Lawsuit Against EFCC After Tinubu Intervention
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke withdrew a lawsuit against the EFCC following a personal intervention by President Bola Tinubu.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke directed the state Attorney-General to withdraw a lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The legal action challenged a Post No Debit restriction the EFCC placed on a state government account during an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of approximately N11 billion in Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds, and Federation Account Allocation Committee allocations.
The EFCC froze the account after detecting what it described as precipitate and unwarranted movement of funds into corporate entities. Governor Adeleke had previously characterized the restriction as illegal and politically motivated.
The decision to drop the case followed a personal intervention by President Bola Tinubu. Adeleke confirmed the resolution, stating that the president had called him and that he had subsequently instructed his Attorney General to drop the matter.
