Russia Intensifies Hybrid Attacks Across Europe to Pressure NATO
Russia is conducting drone strikes and reconnaissance flights across Europe to force Western nations to end military and financial support for Ukraine.
The Federal Government of Russia has intensified a campaign of hybrid attacks across Europe, utilizing drone strikes and reconnaissance flights to pressure European nations into terminating their military and financial aid to Ukraine. These operations are designed to probe NATO red lines and destabilize the region through deniable actions.
Recent incidents include a Russian drone strike at a train station near the Polish-Ukrainian border, which occurred shortly after the departure of Boris Johnson and other dignitaries. In Germany, the Federal Government of Germany formally attributed a separate incident at Leipzig/Halle airport to Russia after an explosive-laden drone was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane.
Beyond these incursions, the Institute for the Study of War warns that Vladimir Putin may be considering a limited military strike against a NATO member, specifically Estonia. Such an action would be intended to shock the alliance and isolate Ukraine from its Western allies.
