Trump Administration Seeks to Terminate 900,000 CBP One Paroles

The Trump administration is attempting to revoke the legal status of 900,000 migrants who entered via the CBP One app despite a federal court ruling.

The administration of Donald Trump is attempting to terminate the temporary legal status of approximately 900,000 migrants who entered the United States using the Biden-era CBP One application. This effort follows a March ruling by Judge Allison Burroughs in a Boston federal court, which determined that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security acted unlawfully by ending parole for these individuals without maintaining sufficient records.

While the United States Department of Justice claims it is complying with the court's order to undo previous terminations, it is simultaneously issuing new termination notices. These notices are based on a memo from U.S. Customs and Border Protection head Rodney Scott, who asserted that parole is no longer appropriate for these individuals.

Advocacy groups, including Democracy Forward and the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, have urged the court to block the administration's actions, describing the move as a deliberate attempt to evade the judicial order. Judge Burroughs has scheduled a hearing for May 6 to determine if the administration should be barred from proceeding with the terminations.
