To mitigate these risks, Trump signed a short-lived peace agreement with Iran in June. The president's urgency follows five years of persistent inflation and an increase in recession risks since the start of the war. This pattern mirrors previous Republican leaders, such as George W. Bush, who explicitly sought to avoid similar comparisons during the 2008 financial crisis.
