Uzbekistan Confers Highest State Honor on Narendra Modi

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi Uzbekistan's highest state honor during a two-day visit, sparking political criticism from Asaduddin Owaisi.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan conferred the Order of 'Oliy Darajali Dustlik', the nation's highest state honor, upon Narendra Modi during a two-day state visit. Prime Minister Modi thanked the president and stated that India and Uzbekistan would collaborate for the welfare of the Global South and humanity.

Following the announcement, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi congratulated the Prime Minister but used the event to criticize the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Owaisi highlighted that Uzbekistan is the place of origin for Mughal emperor Babur, suggesting that the Sangh Parivar should reflect on this connection given their historical rhetoric regarding the emperor.

Owaisi further targeted RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, alleging a discrepancy between the organization's public statements and its internal communications. He characterized Bhagwat's recent remarks as a recurring tactic from the RSS playbook.
