Trump Denies Poor Conditions Aboard USS Abraham Lincoln

President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denied reports of miserable living conditions and attempted suicides aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. The aircraft carrier has been deployed in the Middle East for over 270 days after departing San Diego in November with approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines.

The Military Times reported that the crew faced malfunctioning plumbing, shortages of food and toiletries, and disruptions to mail service. The report further alleged that two sailors attempted to jump overboard due to despair. When questioned about the grueling length of the deployment, Trump stated the duration had been "not nearly long enough."

Admiral Brad Cooper of U.S. Central Command defended the ship's environment during a recent visit. He asserted that the USS Abraham Lincoln has seen fewer mental health cases than other carriers, although he acknowledged that sea deployments are inherently challenging.
