Nigerian Leaders Condemn Security Crisis Following Enugu Worshipper Abductions

Nigerian political and religious leaders have intensified demands for government action following a series of violent attacks and the abduction of worshippers in Enugu State. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, labeled the Enugu abductions a "national calamity" and argued that insecurity has escalated into a crisis that transcends ethnic, religious, and regional boundaries. He urged security agencies to secure the release of captives and called for a collective national response to the violence.

Simultaneously, Bishop David Oyedepo, General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, issued a viral critique of President Bola Tinubu. Oyedepo accused the administration of pretending to be unaware of the security crisis and failing to take decisive action to protect citizens from persistent attacks and economic hardship. He warned that the public's patience has reached a breaking point and that victims of such violence should not be expected to sympathize with the perpetrators or the ineffective government.
