Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian proposed a CIS+1 dialogue mechanism during a summit in Turkmenistan to increase regional interdependence and security.
Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, proposed the creation of a cooperation format called CIS+1 during a Commonwealth of Independent States summit in the Avaza tourist zone of Turkmenistan. The proposed mechanism is intended to establish a flexible framework for dialogue and practical cooperation between Iran and the member states of the CIS.
Pezeshkian urged regional nations to collaborate in shaping a multipolar world. He argued that regional diplomacy must transition from simple crisis management toward a system of interdependence and security based on shared interests.
The Commonwealth of Independent States, which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Moldova, with Turkmenistan as an associate member, serves as the target for this proposed framework.
