ANDI Director Bruce Mac Master Resigns Amid Government Tensions
Bruce Mac Master resigned as head of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia following escalating pressures from President Abelardo de la Espriella.
The director of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia (ANDI), Bruce Mac Master, resigned from his position on October 1, 2026, following a breakdown in relations with President Abelardo de la Espriella. Mac Master attributed his departure to unexpected and troubling circumstances and multiple pressures that compromised the association's autonomy.
The conflict reportedly began when ANDI denied membership to the president's law firm and chose to bypass the First Lady's foundation when distributing earthquake relief funds after the August 10 disaster. These decisions led to government dissatisfaction and reports that the president instructed his cabinet to boycott the association's chief.
Mac Master noted that attempts to resolve the rift through institutional channels were unsuccessful. He stated that his resignation is intended to restore collaboration between the national government and the business community, which represents approximately 1,600 members.
