Bloomberg Report Forecasts India as Major Global Economic Pole
Bloomberg Economics reports that India is emerging as a major global economic pole, with AI and free-trade networks potentially boosting GDP by 2035.
A report released Monday by Bloomberg Economics identifies India as an emerging major pole in a multipolar world. The analysis suggests that India is overcoming growth barriers despite fractured global trade, shifting capital flows, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
Economic projections indicate that expanding free-trade networks could increase India's GDP by $140 billion to $170 billion by 2035. Furthermore, the integration of AI could increase annual GDP growth by up to 0.9 percent. These developments support the objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to achieve developed-economy status by 2047.
While urbanization and domestic reforms provide productivity gains, the report warns of significant challenges. Infrastructure constraints and the automation of the IT-services sector may erode India's traditional labor-cost advantages. Additionally, as global capital concentrates among geopolitical allies and focuses on semiconductors, India must compete with U.S. tech demand and tariff incentives.
