Donald Trump Endorsed Candidates Suffer Multiple Republican Primary Losses
Donald Trump saw several endorsed candidates lose Republican primary races in Florida and multiple states, though allies secured wins in Arizona and Michigan.
Donald Trump faced a series of setbacks in recent Republican primary elections, as several of his endorsed candidates failed to secure nominations. In Florida's 19th Congressional District, Catalina Lauf lost her race, and Representative Cory Mills lost his re-election bid despite receiving an endorsement from Trump in February.
The losses extended to governor's races across Wyoming, Minnesota, Iowa, Georgia, and South Carolina. Additionally, Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee lost his bid for re-election. These results challenge the perceived influence of the president over the party's base, following a spring period where he successfully ousted several GOP members.
Trump maintained some success in key battleground states. His ally Andy Biggs won a primary race in Arizona, and John James secured the nomination for governor in Michigan. Trump is now scheduled to campaign in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for Senator Darline Graham, who failed to avoid a runoff for her seat.
