Congress Accuses BJP of Vote Theft and Roll Manipulation

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in vote theft to undermine Indian democracy on September 1, 2026. Kharge alleged that the ruling party is manipulating electoral rolls by adding or deleting voters to suit its political interests, specifically citing missing voters in Maharashtra and Delhi and the reinstatement of deleted names in West Bengal.

Both leaders criticized the Election Commission of India for failing to ensure fair elections. Kharge claimed the constitutional body is functioning as a "Save BJP's Seat Commission" rather than acting as a guardian of the electoral process. Rahul Gandhi added that the ruling party and the commission change tactics to maintain a government built on vote theft.

These allegations come as political parties prepare for upcoming assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Manipur.
