Katayama noted that Takaichi specifically requests explanations to overseas observers to ensure there is no misunderstanding regarding her economic stance.

The clarification addresses market fears that Takaichi might pressure the Bank of Japan to maintain low interest rates. Some market participants have compared Takaichi to her mentor, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who advocated for monetary easing and flexible fiscal policy to address long-term economic stagnation.
