Kathy Hochul Says Netanyahu's Defeat Would Ease New York Governance
New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated that governing her state would be easier if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu loses his current reelection bid.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated that governing New York would be easier if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu loses his current high-stakes reelection bid. In an interview with Politico Magazine, Hochul argued that Netanyahu's "overreach" following the October 7 Hamas terror attacks has created domestic challenges in New York, specifically contributing to high levels of antisemitism.
Hochul asserted that Netanyahu serves as an obstacle to the creation of a safe Palestinian state, claiming such a goal will not be achieved as long as he remains in power. She noted that while the world supported Israel after the brutal assault by Hamas, an overreach by the Israeli government changed that dynamic.
These comments come as Israel holds an election that serves as a referendum on Netanyahu's leadership. The Prime Minister is currently engaged in a tight race against former military chief Gadi Eisenkot.
