Trump Switches to Legacy Air Force One Over Iranian Threat

President Donald Trump switched from a Qatari-donated Boeing 747-8 to a legacy Air Force One aircraft while attending a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. The United States Secret Service recommended the swap after detecting a credible threat from Iranian proxy forces to fire a missile at the presidential plane. The newer aircraft lacked the advanced defensive systems, including missile-blinding laser technology, equipped on the legacy fleet.

While Trump publicly stated he made the change "for old time's sake," the move occurred as the administration considered military options against Tehran following the breakdown of a recent ceasefire. Trump has previously ordered the U.S. military to destroy Iran if assassination threats are carried out.

Following the security alert, Trump used the legacy aircraft to fly from Ankara to the United Kingdom before eventually returning to the Qatari-donated aircraft upon his return to the United States.
